Closet Organizers
Closet organizers are a perfect way to help you not only clean up your closet but to keep it clean. One of the most frustrating things to have to deal with is a messy closet. How many times have you walked into your room, opened your closet, looked at the mess, and immediately closed it? Sometimes it’s easier just to turn the other way instead of having to deal with the problem. Doing this will cause problems though.
Although this may sound a bit far fetched, having a messy closet can actually get in the way of your success and happiness. But allowing something as insignificant as a closet cause you stress every time you look at it, overtime, this will cause your mind to become unfocused. This can lead to the development of a short temper as well as agitation. Fortunately, you can clean this all up with the right closet organizer.
Just look at the picture above. If your closet looked like this, you would be a lot stressed and more relaxed. Finding things would be simple which in turn would save you time and reduce your anxiety. So let’s take a look at how you can best use one of these organizers.
If you just go out and buy these closet organizers and expect everything to look fine and dandy, then you may be disappointed. Being able to create the right closet requires a bit more work. Luckily, once you get it down, keeping your closet organized will be easy. So before you run out and get one of these closet organizer systems, you need to do a few things first.
The first thing you will need to do is to clean out your closet. Simply rearranging your items won’t do you much good. The best thing to do is to first get rid of all of the clothes and other items that you know you’re never going to use. For some people, this can be quite difficult. These are the pack rats. Here’s a simple thing you can do to help you clean out your closet if you’re in this situation. Go through all of the items in the closet and put all of the things you haven’t used in over a year in a pile. Ideally, you will want to donate these items but if you can’t, you can simply store it in the garage.
Once you have sorted out and have gotten rid of all of the items you don’t need, it’s time to buy an organizer for your closet. Closet organizers come in a lot of different styles. You can learn more about each type in other articles but for now, here are some of the basic types: Wire closet organizer (inexpensive), wood closet organizer (looks great but costs a bit more), closet shoe organizer (specifically for shoes), and a bunch of different variations of hanging closet organizers and shelves.
There are advantages and disadvantages to these different types but I’ll save that for the other articles. For now, once you have cleaned out your closet, you will buy and install one of these closet organizers. From there, you will have to categorize your clothes and other items that you store in your closet. Each of these categories should have it’s own designated spots. Once you get this part down, from here, it’s just a matter of getting into the habit of putting stuff where they belong. The difference between your old closet and this new one is that you will now have more places to put specific items. Once you have formed a habit of putting things where they belong, keeping your closet clean will be quite easy.
So again, clean out your closet by throwing away things you don’t need, install an organizer for your closet, designate what goes where, and finally, get in the habit of putting things where they belong. This is the best way to get the most out of closet organizers. Simply buying one and sticking to your old ways will just put you back in the same position a few weeks done the line: A messy closet and a pounding headache.
